About Greensboro ABC

Greensboro ABC sells the finest in spirits while supporting our local community and functioning as part of the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control System.

Greensboro ABC operates solely on the revenue derived from spirit sales in Greensboro. There is no property, state or other local tax used to support ABC operations. The City of Greensboro Alcoholic Beverage Control manages the sale of distilled spirits through business principles that promote excellence in customer service; administers regulatory provisions; and instills financial accountabilities that benefit those we serve.

At the Greensboro ABC Board, our mission is driven by purpose and people—those we serve and those who serve alongside us.

We are committed to:

  • Responsibly managing the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages, in full alignment with North Carolina General Statute 18B, knowing that every transaction reflects our integrity and safeguards our community.
  • Supporting health and well-being in our neighborhoods, by engaging in education and prevention efforts around alcohol and substance abuse—because we care about the lives connected to our work.
  • Empowering our team through innovation and best retail practices, so that each employee can take pride in their role while helping to grow the resources we return to our local government.
  • Protecting and advancing the state’s ABC system, honoring our legacy while building a future together.

We believe that when our people understand the “why,” they bring their best selves to work—and that’s how we deliver exceptional service, create meaningful impact, and make each other’s jobs easier and more fulfilling.

The Greensboro ABC Board of Directors is appointed by the Greensboro City Council as a local independent political subdivision of the State. The board operates as a separate entity establishing policies and procedures, and the board retains authority to set policy and adopt rules in conformity with state ABC laws and state Commission rules. The City of Greensboro ABC Board members are volunteers and receive no compensations for their work, efforts and expertise committed to the operation of the Greensboro ABC system.

Greensboro ABC Board Meetings are held monthly and are open to the public via teleconference. Anyone wishing to virtually attend board meetings may contact dholmes@gsoabc.com.
